[로스엔젤레스=민족통신 종합]재미시민단체 KANF-USA 대변인은 "글렌데일 도서관에 설치된 일제의 희생자 정신대 여성들을 상징하는 '평화의 소녀상' 보존을 위한 서명운동이 오늘 현재 8만31명이 참여해 오는 2월3일까지 10만명이 되어야 백악관에 접수해 철거반대를 위한 절차가 완료된다고 하며 재미동포들의 참여를 호소하고 있어 이에 동포들의 적극적인 참여를 바라고 있다. 시민단체가 민족통신에 보낸 공문은 다음과 같다.

사랑하는 동지 여러분!

우리 모두의 노력으로 글렌데일 평화의 소녀상 철거 반대를 위한 백악관 청원이 현재시간 80,031 명이 되었습니다.

오는 2월3일까지 십만명이 되어야 백악관에 접수가 된다고 합니다.

단 2틀 사이에 약6만여명이 참여를 하였습니다.

미주한인역사상 K-Power 를 나타내는 또 하나의 모멘텀을 만들어 내었습니다.

역시 우리 민족은 백의 민족으로서 의로운 일에 두려움없이 당당하게 일어서는 자랑스런 민족입니다.

아직까지 기회가 닿지 않아 청원을 못한 분들에게 격려하여 주셔서, 목표점을 넘어 일본인들 보다 더 적극적으로 미행정부 정책에 참여함으로 미국의 지도자로 자질향상과 미국외교정책에 관심을 가짐으로 향후 우리 후대들이 미국의 지도자로서 일어설 수 있는 귀한 계기가 되길 바랍니다.

아울러 일본의 반인륜적 전쟁범죄, 특히 Sex Slave, 를 전세계에 알림으로 인류사회에 경각심을 일으키며, 일본의 참된 회개와 사죄를 통하여 올바른 역사교육이 일본뿐 아니라 전세계에 이루어지는 귀한 계기가 되길 바랍니다.

Thank you so much for your participation in petitioning to the White House for the preservation of the Peace Girl Monument in Glendale, California.

As of 11:30 today, we have gathered 80,031 signatures; over 60,000 in 2 days!

You and I know that Korea is called "Nationality of White" meaning that we love the pure heart and do not negotiate with dirty things.

This is why Koreans love to wear the color white.

The gathering of so many signatures in such a short time proves that we have a strong sense of righteousness.

I would like to personally thank those who petitioned and spent their time to let others know about the situation.

I would like to especially thank the Second and Third Generation Korean-Americans.

I am 100% positive that you can change the world upside-down.

Thank you again for your participation; we only need 50,000 more signatures until we reach our goal and the White House acknowledges our defense of justice.

Subject: 'Sex Slave symbol 'Peace Girl' City of Glendale, CA, USA' issue

Dear Friends,

If you are Korean American;

If you are a patriotic for both Korea & America;

If you are a supporter of justice;

You have an opportunity to act on behalf of your mother and father countries.

The Japanese-Americans have petitioned with over 110,000 signatures to the Obama Administration to get rid of the Peace Girl Monument in the City of Glendale in California to hide their shameful history.

The Peace Girl Monument was set up at the City of Glendale's public library last year in July.

The monument serves as a reminder of our grandmothers who served as sex slaves under the name "Comfort Women" during World War II when Japan attacked Korea and China.

It is our turn to answer back. Our petition currently has 17,000 and rising!

Last year for the unveiling ceremony of the Peace Girl Monument in the City of Glendale, there were over 70 media broadcasting companies that attended the event to spread the awareness that Japan did indeed force Sex Slavery on captured women during World War II.

It is estimated that more than 200,000 young women from all around Asia served as sex slaves to Japanese soldiers.

Needless to say, some of our grandmothers are alive and still remember the pain of having been stripped of their freedom.

For them and for future generations to come, please help us by standing up for your mother and father countries by going to the site below and take 5 minutes to sign the petition to keep the monument.
