The 75th founding anniversary of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League falls on January 17 this year.

Since its founding, the youth league, the successor to the Democratic Youth League of North Korea, has performed the mission of the pathfinder and wing of the Workers’ Party of Korea, inspiring millions of young Koreans to the efforts to accomplish the socialist cause of Juche.

In every decade of the Korean revolution, it has rendered great services to building on this land a socialist country that is independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence under the leadership of the WPK.

Today, young Koreans are making a breakthrough on every front where a powerful socialist country is being built, ushering in a golden age of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist youth movement.

In order to safeguard and brilliantly carry forward the ideas and exploits of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on prioritizing young people, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un renamed the youth league the glorious Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League and leads young people to staunchly carry forward the cause of the Juche revolution.

Young people are building on this land a large number of monumental structures named in honour of them by giving full play to the courage and spirit of moving mountains and filling up seas at a go at the sites of grand socialist construction. Regarding national defence as the highest expression of patriotism, they are defending the outposts of the country reliably.

As the developers and masters of advanced science and technology, they are promoting economic construction by dint of science and technology and playing the vanguard role in developing art and literature, sports and other sectors of society.

The youth league inspires all the young people to conduct dynamic movements of the youth shock brigades, young guards, youth workteams and youth subworkteams so as to glorify the days of their youth with valuable creations and feats with a sense of patriotism.

It has worked as a vice president of the World Federation of Democratic Youth since its seventh congress held in June Juche 55 (1966).

Under the unfurled banner of anti-imperialist independence, it is strengthening unity and cooperation with the progressive young peoples around the world who champion independence and thus making a contribution to securing genuine international justice and realizing the cause of global independence.
