Pyongyang, January 5 (KCNA) -- Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in the historic New Year Address for Juche 108 (2019) underlined the need to make greater strides in the efforts to boost inter-Korean relations, achieve peace and prosperity and reunify the country on the basis of the priceless achievements made last year which was wonderfully adorned with unprecedented events, brightly indicating the tasks and ways for it.

 All the Koreans in north, south and overseas fully support his New Year Address calling for making the Korean peninsula a durable and lasting peace zone and consolidating the national reconciliation and unity by thoroughly implementing the historic north-south declarations, and are on fire with the desire for their implementation.

 The last year 2018 was a stirring year which witnessed a dramatic change unprecedented in the history of national division, and the adoption of the historic Panmunjom Declaration, the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration and the north-south agreement in the military field is of weighty significance in the history of reunification of the Korean nation.

 The adoption of the inter-Korean declarations surely reversed inter-Korean relations, which had been in the worst phase of distrust and confrontation, to those of trust and reconciliation and the cooperation was promoted in various fields including railways, roads, forestry and public health despite the moves of foreign forces to bar the improvement of the inter-Korean relations under the pretext of speed control.

 Indeed, the last year 2018 fully proved the validity and great vitality of the inter-Korean declarations and firmly convinced all the fellow countrymen that the thorough implementation of the declarations is the way to making the Korean peninsula the true home of the nation, which is the most peaceful and will prosper.

 All the Koreans have to further accelerate the nationwide advance for the development of the inter-Korean relations, peace and prosperity, holding high the slogan "Let us usher in a heyday of peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula by thoroughly implementing the historic north-south declarations!"
