Editor's Note: Aram Pan, a photographer from Singapore, gave a TEDx Talk last year. Pan has visited the DPRK over a dozen times, and in this short talk, he talks about how he came to visit the DPRK, and what he's experienced in the country over his many trips. He points out that his first trip was very "touristy" with lots of visits to monuments, but in subsequent trips, as he was able to see and do more, he discovered a lot more, and even considers the DPRK to be "beautiful". One thing he says South Koreans and North Koreans share in common, is their love of karaoke. He also answers the question as to whether everything he's seen in the DPRK was staged and set-up just for him. His response will show the ridiculousness of such a statement. As Pan says, there is a lot of sensationalism in today's news media when it comes to the DPRK.
