Mangyongdae Prize Sports Contest Begins
Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- The Mangyongdae Prize Sports Contest began with due ceremony
at Pyongyang
Indoor Stadium Tuesday in the run-up to the birth anniversary of
President Kim Il Sung.
Its participants will
compete in dozens of events including football, basketball, volleyball,
weightlifting, wrestling, judo, field hockey, track and field and gymnastics in
Pyongyang, Wonsan, Phyongsong, Haeju, Nampho and other cities.
Present there were Kim
Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier,
Ri Yong Su, department director of the C.C., the WPK, officials concerned,
sports persons and citizens.
Vice Premier Kim Yong
Jin made an opening address.
At the end of the
opening ceremony there took place the men's volleyball game between the April
25 Team and Amnokgang Team. -0-
