Los Angeles, August 26 (TKN) -- Three "insular" countries - the United States, Japan and Australia - are going to hold the first trilateral meeting of their leaders on September 8 on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit in Sydney.

According to a report of the Japanese news agency Kyodo that quotes an anonymous Japanese Foreign Ministry source, US President George W Bush, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Australian Prime Minister John Howard "are expected to reaffirm unity in dealing with north Korea, Iraq and other issues" in the brief meeting over breakfast on the first day of the two-day annual APEC summit, and Abe intends to exchange views with Howard and Bush on promoting a strategic dialogue involving the three countries and India.

It is strange to see the United States thinks and acts like one of the insular countries though it has been located in continental North America.
