Kim Jong Il and Nong Duc Manh, ruling party leaders each of the DPRK and Vietnam, have met in Pyongyang to renew both countries" traditional friendship and revolutionary relations that Kim Il Sung and Ho Chi Minh, their forerunners, had pioneered and established for decades in the previous century for the cause of their countries" independence and development. As the DPRK and its people have vigorously advanced on the road to the powerful, prosperous and great country in this new century, the world now sees and learns a new surge of internationalism for the cause of global independence thanks to the Songun leadership. Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Tete-a-tete talks were held between Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers" Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, and Nong Duc Manh, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in Pyongyang Wednesday. The talks proceeded in a comradely, sincere and friendly atmosphere.

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers" Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, received gifts from Nong Duc Manh, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on October 17.
Present on the occasion together with Nong Duc Manh were Pham Gia Khiem, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Communist Party of Vietnam who is also deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and Tran Van Hang, chairman of the Commission for External Affairs of the Party Central Committee, and Ngo Van Du, chief of the General Office of the Party Central Committee, who are members of the Party Central Committee, and other suite members.
Nong Duc Manh explained the gifts to Kim Jong Il.
Kim Jong Il expressed thanks for the gifts before looking round them on display.

He was accompanied by Pham Gia Khiem, member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the CPV, who is also deputy prime minister and foreign minister, and other suite members, and Le Van Cu, Vietnamese ambassador to the DPRK.
He and his party laid a floral basket before President Kim Il Sung"s old home in Mangyongdae.
They looked round relics at the old home, being briefed on the fact that Kim Il Sung was born there and nurtured the great intention to liberate the country in his childhood and embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years and on the members of his patriotic and revolutionary family in Mangyongdae.
They had a picture taken in front of the old home.
At the end of the visit Nong Duc Manh made the following entry in the visitor"s book: I hope that the fraternal Korean people would continue to register greater success in carrying out the revolutionary cause to build rich, powerful and beautiful Korea, an abundant and happy country, true to the behest of President Kim Il Sung under the leadership of the Workers" Party of Korea headed by Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Nong Duc Manh also visited the Pyongyang 326 Electric Wire Factory today.
After looking round several production processes and products on display, he wrote in the visitor"s book that he hoped all the officials and workers of the factory would increase the production of quality goods by displaying the spirit of creative labor and thus contribute to building rich and powerful Korea.

The floor of the stadium turned into a veritable sea of flowers and dancers in the sentiment of friendship of the Korean people with the Vietnamese people.
"Arirang" shows the heroic struggle of the Korean people with elegant and beautiful dances, dynamic gymnastic movements and kaleidoscopic scenes of the background. It tells how the Korean people built socialist Korea, holding aloft the banner of Songun and how energetically they are now stepping up the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and forging ahead to achieve national reunification and global independence.
The guests warmly applauded the performers, expressing admiration at the performance of the grand gymnastic and artistic performance full of high ideological and artistic value.
