Los Angeles, September 29 (TKN) -- Anti-nuclear activists will visit North Korea next month to study how survivors of the 1945 US atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are coping, the internet newspaper Japan Today reports.
It will be the first visit by a nongovernmental inspection team to North Korea since June 2002 when members of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations sent a delegation, the internet newspaper reports, adding:
The nine members of the team will include Takashi Mukai, deputy chief of the Japan Congress Against A- and H-Bombs, known as Gensuikin, and Li Sil Gun, head of an organization that helps Korean A-bomb victims. The delegates will meet members of a North Korean group of A-bomb survivors to determine their current situation and what support they may require. The activists are scheduled to meet survivors residing in and outside of Pyongyang, they said.
