Despite the bloody massacres and uprisings of April 19, 1960, the Kwangju Massacre in 1980, the June 1987 Democracy Movements and the many precious young lives lost, the hard-won democracy in the Republic of Korea is steadfastly dying! It is time for all the conscientious intellectuals and scholars to rise and demand justice for the people of Republic of Korea. We must reclaim the "stolen" democracy of Korea.

Incredibly, soon after the December 19, 2012 election, the allegations of blatant and illegal interventions in the presidential election by the National Intelligence Services (NIS) surfaced (For an in dept analysis, please refer to the additional links and information attached herein). Commencing upon Park Chung-hee's "Yu-shin" Regime, the National Intelligence Services (NIS) has gone through numerous name changes and reinvention. Nevertheless, the infamous NIS (aka: K-CIA, Ahn-ki-boo, Kuk-jung-won) has brutally tortured, murdered, conducted psychological warfare and, terrorized the family members of the dissidents throughout the brutal dictator-ruled history of the Republic of Korea.

The evidence of covert and illegal activities by the New Frontier Party (Se-noo-ri-dang) via the National Intelligence Services were mounting daily prior to the December 19, 2012 presidential election. Despite the clear indication and delineation outlined by the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, prohibiting any and all involvement by the government intelligence agency in the national elections, the NIS has clearly and unequivocally broke the NATIONAL laws and must be charged, convicted and its organization (NIS) dismantled.

The top legal scholars have clearly interpreted and deemed the intervention by the NIS illegal and breaking of the Constitutional Laws of the Republic of Korea. At this juncture, with clear and valid evidence mounting against the NIS, a formal investigation detailing and itemizing every single illegal activities conducted by the NIS. Thus, legally and officially, this 2012 election must be declared "an electoral coup-de-tat" and the election null and void.

To demand the legal and civil accountability from the Park Regime, thousands upon thousands of citizens have taken themselves to the streets, holding continuous and concurrent candlelight vigils, protesting the legality and legitimacy of the Park Regime and to reclaim the "stolen democracy!"

Amazingly, most of the major media in the Republic of Korea have "willingly" decided to be blind-sided by the autocratic regime's interests and means. They have kept their eyes, ears and mouths shut tight!

In an effort to declare the 2012 presidential election "null and void," and to lead to an ultimate impeachment of Park Geun-hae, we ask you and your institution to do the following:

1. Write an Open Letter to Park Geun-hye, demanding the RETURN of the STOLEN democracy and justice to the Republic of Korea. Share the comments and letters with us so that we can share distribute all the accumulated comments via the SNS like a wildfire. This activity will prove how the masses of the world are deeply concerned about the status of the Republic of Korea. Furthermore, these comments of concerns will exclaim the deep concerns, anger and disappointments of the global citizens.

한국 국정원의 불법선거개입과 관련하여 전세계 지식인들에게 고하는 호소문

1960년 4.19 혁명을 비롯 1980년 5월 광주의 민주항쟁과 1987년 6월의 민주화 운동 등, 무수한 젊은이들의 희생을 바쳐 어렵게 이룩한 대한민국의 민주주의가 죽어가고 있습니다. 2012.12.19의 대한민국의 18대 대통령 선거에서 유신 독재자 박정희의 딸인 박근혜 후보가 당선되었으나, 이후 국가정보원 (이하 국정원)의 선거개입과 증거인멸이 확인되었고, 이에 대한 전국적인 저항운동이 계속되고 있습니다. 이에 우리는 전세계 지식인들의 용기있는 행동을 부탁드리고자 합니다.

상황 이해를 돕기 위해서, 그동안의 경과를 먼저 소개하겠습니다. (자세한 사항은 별첨하는 자료를 참조해주십시오). 국정원은, 60•70년대 박정희 독재정부의 공작정치를 위해 국가안전기획부라는 이름으로 시작된 대통령 직속기관으로서, 간첩단 사건을 날조하거나 민주주의를 요구하는 수많은 학생들을 고문하고 죽이는 등 악명높은 집단이며, 80년대 국가정보원으로 명칭을 바꾸어서 유지되고 있습니다.

바로 이 국정원이 야당 후보를 폄하하고 빨갱이라고 매도하면서 여당 후보인 박근혜에 유리한 여론을 조성하기 위한 인터넷 활동을 했음이, 2012년 12월 초 폭로되었습니다. 대선의 당락이 갈릴 수 있는 첨예한 각축 국면에서 이 사안은, 그러나, 서울경찰청장의 수뇌부 등 일부 정치경찰에 의해 서둘러 봉합되었고, 결국 12월 19일 박근혜가 당선되었습니다.

하지만 진실을 밝히려는 시민들의 노력덕분에, 국정원의 선거개입 정황들이 박근혜의 대통령 취임 이후 포착되었고, 국민들의 압력으로 검찰조사가 이루어졌으며, 정치적으로 중립이어야 할 국정원의 무수한 정치개입 사례들과 증거인멸이 확인되었습니다. 법조인들은 국민의 주권을 유린한 '선거 쿠데타' 내지 '국기문란'으로 규정하였고, 한국 국민들은 매주 거리로 나와 민주주의 염원을 담은 촛불로써 박근혜 정부가 책임질 것을 요구하고 있습니다. 젊은이들 뿐 아니라, 종교인들, 법조인들, 언론인들, 심지어 청소년들까지 나서는 각계각층의 범국민적 항의운동으로 확산되고 있는 것입니다.

이들은 크게 두 가지를 요구하고 있습니다. 먼저, 정보기관의 불법적 정치공작과 선거개입은 민주주의의 여야 간의 다른 정쟁(政爭)사안과는 전혀 차원이 달리 민주주의의 근간을 흔드는 국기문란과 법치파괴의 행위이므로, 명명백백하게 진실이 밝혀져야 한다는 것입니다. 또한, 이러한 진실규명에 기초하여, 관련자들에 대한 명백한 처벌과 불법 정치공작에 참여한 국정원의 개혁 또는 해체가 필요하다는 것입니다.

이 저항운동의 성공을 위해 여러분들에게 두 가지의 도움을 요청합니다.

1. 한국의 국정원 사태 및 민주주의발전을 위한 세계 지식인들의 의견 표명(단체의 성명서, 개인들의 간단한 의견 표명 등)
2. 언론 기고 등 다양한 방식의 관심 촉구
