James and Ted Dresnok speaking in fluent Korean blamed "American imperialism" for the tensions on the Korean Peninsula, and asked the U.S. to withdraw its forces from South Korea. "The United States must abandon its anti-North Korean policy. The U.S. needs to wake up, reach a peace agreement with us, and leave South Korea. That's the only way to save itself," CNN quoted Ted Dresnok as saying. Both in their 30's said they are married with children and use the surname "Hong" in North Korea. They revealed that their father is James Joseph Dresnok, an American GI who, according to the Pentagon, defected to North Korea in 1962. According to Balbina Hwang, a visiting professor at Georgetown University, American defectors are considered a valuable propaganda tool by the North Korean regime. However, it is unclear if the hour-long video appeared on the U.S.-based website Minjok Tongshin was made, or whether the men appeared under duress. According to reports, the Pentagon acknowledged in 1996 that at least four American servicemen had defected to North Korea over the decades. Meanwhile, officials for the State Department, CIA, and the office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment on the video.

한미합동군사훈련 할때 북한이 쏘아 댄 별별 무기들과
광명성4호로 시작하여 금년초 수소탄 발사에다가 희한한 방사포들,
수중탄도탄발사, 육지서 대형화물차서 미사일발사, 4월초순에 쏘아올린
대륙간타도미사일로 미국본토타격이 가능하다는 보도 등등...
미국언론 한국언론 다들 도발(provocation)이라고 왁자지껄하게 보도했지만
이걸로 북한이 얻어들인것이 엄청났다고 하네요.
뭐냐고요?
평소에 몰랐던 나라들이 쪼그만한 나라 북한이 인공위성을 날리고
아니 수소탄까지 날리고 게다가 최강 미국향해서 본토타격하겠다는
불호령하는 젊으세대 지도자의 배씸이 전세계에 알려짐으로서 얻었던
광고효과는 아마도 수십억달러치도 넘을꺼라는게 중론이네요. 추카 아무튼!
