Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- The 15th Pyongyang International Film Festival opened with due ceremony at the Central Youth Hall Friday.
Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Ri Ryong Nam, vice-premier, Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture and chairman of the festival organizing committee, Cha Hui Rim, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, Kim In Bom, vice-minister of Culture and general director of the General Bureau of Film, officials concerned, creators and artistes in the field of film, working people in the city and foreign delegations and delegates and members of international jury.
Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys and members of missions of international organizations here and their spouses, military attaches and officials in charge of culture relations of foreign embassies here and foreign guests.
Introduced at the ceremony were long feature films, documentary and short films and films for special show, which are presented to the festival.
Pak Chun Nam in an opening address expressed the belief that the festival would be successful amid sincere efforts and cooperation of all participants.
The flag of the festival was hoisted and members of international jury were introduced.
Yuri Mityushin, chairman of the International Jury Committee, in a congratulatory speech said that the committee will do its work well to direct efforts to consolidating the prestige of the Pyongyang International Film Festival.
The ceremony introduced prizes of the festival.
At the end of the ceremony, they watched a feature film of the Russian Federation.
The organizing committee of the festival hosted a reception for the festival participants at Okryu Restaurant on the same day. -0-
