Statement

on the Third Anniversary

of the Death of Kim Jong-Il, leader of DPR Korea.

In conjunction with the third anniversary of the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, the ANSWER Coalition hereby reaffirms its solidarity with the people of Korea as they continue to struggle against U.S. aggression and hostility towards the DPRK, and for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

Throughout the history of North Korea, the DPRK has faced unrelenting attacks and threats by the United States, including war maneuvers that simulate the destruction of North Korea, threats of nuclear annihilation, and draconian economic sanctions that are designed to destabilize the weaken North Korean. All attempts to overturn the government of the DPRK have been met by a united people determined to defend the sovereignty of their country.

The U.S. government in Washington is determined to continue its strategy of demonization of the North Korean government and its people. All of us in the ANSWER Coalition will continue to speak out loudly and clearly to demand that the Korean War must come to an end, that the threats and sanctions must stop, and the plan to isolate the DPRK must end. If the brutal sanctions are lifted, if the hostilities are ended, and a long-overdue peace treaty is signed, peaceful reunification can and will occur.

우리 단체(ANSWER Coalition=Act Now to Stop War and Racism)는 김정일 영도자의 서거3주년을 맞아, 미국의 침략과 대조선적대시 정책에 맞서 투쟁하여 온 국내외 코리안들과 그리고 코리아 반도의 평화와 통일을 위해 힘써 온 여러분과 함께 연대한다는 것을 다시 한번 천명하는 바입니다.

조선민주주의인민공화국은 미국에 의한 잔인한 침략 정책으로 수난을 받아 왔고, 조선을 파괴하기 위한 전쟁훈련과 핵공격위협을 받아 왔고, 가혹한 경제제재를 통해 숱한 압박을 받아 왔습니다. 미국의대북적대시 정책은 잔혹하였습니다. 주권을 수호하기 위해 투쟁해 온 조선을 붕괴시키려고 미국은 온갖 수단과 방법을 가리지 않았습니다.

지금 워싱턴의 미국정부는 조선과 조선사람들을 악마화하는 전략을 지속하고 있습니다. 그리하여 전국조직인 우리 단체, ANSWER Coalition 성원들은 코리아 전쟁이 하루 속히 종식될 될 것을 촉구하면서 미국의 대조선 침략위협과 대조선 경제제재를 중단하고 조선을 고립압살하려는 정책을 거둘 것을요청할 것입니다. 잔혹한 제재가 없어지고, 적대감이 끝나고, 평화협정이 체결되면 코리아반도에 평화와 통일의 그날이 올것입니다.
