Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- Actions of Koreans in the U.S.  against the Park Geun Hye regime of south Korea which caused the unprecedented ferry sinking disaster are spilling over to different parts of the U.S.

Koreans in Los Angeles have held a rally for 9 consecutive days outside the building of the puppet consulate general of south Korea and released a joint statement of compatriots' organizations in various parts of the U.S. on May 16.

The statement said although decades have passed since the Kwangju Popular Uprising started on May 18, 1980, the present dictatorial regime of south Korea perpetrated another crime by causing the ferry Sewol sinking disaster while desperately kicking up the racket of confrontation with the DPRK.
It demanded the "National Assembly" of south Korea conduct a state investigation into the accident and probe the truth behind it and urged the media of south Korea to awake and honestly speak for the people.

On the same day there took place a candle-light meeting of Koreans in New York to honor the memory of victims of the ferry sinking disaster and denounce the incompetence of the corrupt south Korean regime.

On May 17 Koreans from various circles in the U.S. held an event in Los Angeles on the theme "From Mangwol-dong to ferry Sewol" to mark the 34th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising.
Its participants honored the memory of the victims of the ferry sinking accident and staged a candle-light demo till they reached the south Korean consulate general after bitterly condemning Park Geun Hye for causing the disaster.

Next day Koreans in Washington and New York staged demos denouncing the press censorship and undemocratic acts being perpetrated by the south Korean regime as regards the ferry sinking accident and demanding a probe into the truth behind the accident.

Demos were reportedly staged also in 39 states of the U.S. including Georgia and California in denunciation of the south Korean regime on the same day.
On May 7 Korean professors in the U.S. posted on a website a statement calling the south Korean authorities to account and urging it to prevent the recurrence of the accident and protect the human rights of the victims and their bereaved families.

Meanwhile, intellectuals representing overseas Korean and foreign scholars held a joint press conference in Washington on May 13, at which they held that the disaster was caused by the immorality of the south Korean authorities and the Park Geun Hye regime is wholly to blame for it.

A joint statement in the name of 1 074 representatives of scholars was read out at the conference.
It held that the south Korean authorities are wholly accountable for the disaster. -0-
