Universal 12-year Compulsory Education Enforced in DPRK
with Beginning of New
School Year
Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- The universal 12-year compulsory education is
put into practice across the DPRK with the start of the new school year
(2014-2015) on Tuesday.
The universal 12-year compulsory education
system is guaranteed by the law adopted at the 6th session of the 12th DPRK
Supreme People's Assembly in 2012. The enforcement of the system marks a
milestone in fully demonstrating the dignity of the country desirous of
building an educational power and a highly civilized socialist state.
New pupils and students were warmly
welcomed by teachers, senior pupils and their parents at schools of different
levels across the country.
Ri Kyong Hui, mother of Kim Ho Ung, a
newcomer of Ryusong Primary School in Central District, Pyongyang, told KCNA:
I am very pleased that my son will receive
the universal 12-year compulsory education.
The respected Marshal Kim Jong Un has
always paid deep attention to bringing up the younger generation to be reliable
successors to the revolution. I am deeply impressed by his noble outlook on the
future and the rising generation.
I will make my son study hard in hearty
response to the noble intention of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
So Sung Hyok, a teacher of Kinjae Junior
Secondary School in Sosong District, said:
In the period of junior secondary school,
pupils can acquire basic technological knowledge. New teaching programs and
methods have already been prepared in conformity with teaching guidelines.
We, teachers, will make all our efforts to
bring up pupils to be talents, as intended by the Workers' Party of Korea.
Ryang Ju Ryong, a new student of Saesalrim
Senior Secondary School in Tongdaewon District, said he would study hard to get
good knowledge as well as good moral character and good health.
Kim Song Il, a department director of the
Ministry of General Education under the Education Commission, said he would
devotedly work to prepare all students to be pillars of the country, in hearty
response to the WPK's education policy. -0-
