6th General Meeting of Japanese Regional Committee
for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration Held
Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- The 6th General Meeting of the Japanese Regional Committee of
the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration was
held in Tokyo on March 26.
A resolution was read
out at the meeting.
The situation on the
Korean peninsula is turning sour again owing to the hostile acts against fellow
countrymen and war maneuvers with outside forces and the Korean nation has not
yet escaped from confrontation and the danger of a war, the resolution said,
adding:
The Japanese regional
committee will take the lead in the struggle to usher in the second June 15 era
of reunification under the uplifted banner of By Our Nation Itself in
conformity with the demand of the era and the aspiration of fellow countrymen.
We will firmly adhere to
the principle of independence and the stand of By Our Nation Itself and make
all efforts to preserve and implement the July 4 joint statement, the June 15
joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the reunification programmes
common to the nation.
We will lay bare and
denounce the south Korean authorities for their suppression on the
pro-reunification patriotic forces under the pretext of security and fully
support the people of different social standings in south Korea in their
struggle to preserve and implement the June 15 joint declaration and the
October 4 declaration.
We will sound a note of
warning against Japan's moves for militarism, demand Japan make an apology and
reparation for its past crimes and stop discrimination and human rights abuses
against Koreans in Japan, and conduct an international solidarity movement with
Koreans in the north, the south and overseas and broad peace-loving forces in
the world to bring peace to Northeast Asia.
We will strengthen the
Japanese regional committee, organize information activities for the country's
reunification, reunification events, peace demonstrations, cultural and
academic events, etc. in Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, Fukuoka and other areas on major
occasions for the reunification movement this year and thus arouse the Koreans
in Japan to preserve and implement the joint declarations.
Son Hyong Gun was
elected chairman of the Japanese regional committee at the meeting. -0-
